Merab Dvalishvili’s Historic Title Defense at UFC 316

On June 7, 2025, Merab Dvalishvili will defend his UFC Bantamweight Championship in a highly anticipated rematch against Sean O’Malley at UFC 316, held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.  

Dvalishvili, known as “The Machine,” previously defeated O’Malley at UFC 306, showcasing his relentless wrestling and cardio to secure a unanimous decision victory.  Since then, he has successfully defended his title against top contenders, including Umar Nurmagomedov.  

The UFC 316 press conference highlighted the tension between the fighters. O’Malley predicted a knockout victory, while Dvalishvili warned that continued taunts would lead to further humiliation.  

A win for Dvalishvili would tie him with legends Khabib Nurmagomedov and Jon Jones for 13 consecutive UFC victories, further cementing his legacy in the sport.
